A uniform section, and the reasoning behind it.

The primary structural section runs ISMB400 uniform throughout — the haunch eliminated, connections simplified, and bracing and connection allowances reduced accordingly.

Loads per IS 875 Parts 1–3; sections checked to IS 800; footings to IS 456 and IS 1904.

The decision to hold one section uniform rather than vary it bay to bay is a judgement, not a default. A haunched frame can shave material at the knee at the cost of a more complex connection, more fabrication variety, and more that can go wrong at erection. A uniform section trades a small material margin for fewer distinct parts, simpler quality control, and a connection detail repeated identically at every frame rather than re-verified at each one.

That trade is the engineering content of this page, and it is the reason this case study exists at all: not to show that a PEB go-down was built, but to show the basis on which one specific structural decision was made. Publishing the reasoning, not just the outcome, is what distinguishes an engineer-led build from one that simply reports a result.
